Some weeks ago, I was getting pictures in my mind, relationships actually, of what it feels like to walk upon the earth in these times. It wasn’t just my personal walk of feeling the ground beneath me, the nature, the realness of the feelings of every day life, but something deeper to the connection of our “earth walk.” I felt something heavenly about it, bigger than me per say, maybe it was because I had these thoughts while attending a sermon on a Sunday morning. Yet, the pictures stayed with me until much later and I was very excited and mesmerized at the newness of the conceptions. Being a teacher of Traditional Chinese Medicine, I am often looking at life in the relationships of yin and yang, natural law, and elements such as fire, earth, metal, water, and wood. So when I received these pictures in my mind, it was as if I suddenly began to understand the Earth and our times in a whole new way. It went something like this. 

There is a rising concept in our emerging culture that the feminine way is being reborn, or a new understanding of feminine is coming into life. You can see it in the media with its messages of “Save the Earth,” “End Global Warming,” and “Preserve the Environment,” and in the consciousness of the meanings of 2012. Alot of this has come from messages about the age of destruction and stress from humanity’s ignorance of the basic needs of our planet and people and our gross use of resources, or misuse of resources. Yet, there has also been advancements in our culture and world way beyond what any of us could imagine or keep up with, whether it's in technology, communication, medicine, or business. By new ways, I mean that we live in times of fast pace technology innovation and global everything, and that there is quite a possibility that our children will learn how to use a computer before they learn how to talk. We live in a time when our ability to be connected has bypassed the stamp and letter for the connection that comes through virtual reality. This is not such a bad thing really, love will travel, but now, faster. Yet, something deeper is speaking, and it’s really not so new, maybe just forgotten. 

So how do we understand the rising intelligence to innovate when it has at times led us to forget our innate intelligence (thus consequences) to care for the foundations, health, and values in our lives and the environment as a whole? What I believe and feel is happening is a call for balance, a way to balance innovative intelligence with innate intelligence, thus catalyzing creativity. Out of this, we begin to genuinely listen and tune into the call of guidance helping us to unlearn old or foreseeable destructive ways so that we reconnect with natural and practical ways of balance enabling sustainability on Earth. Our stubbornness, resistances, or frustrations are only a phase until we understand more clearly inside what has already been given. We have been given innateness, and we drive innovation. The marriage comes when innateness creates innovation. This comes more by understanding that the balance of honoring both makes sense, and the more that we care, the more we begin to see the marriage of innovation and innateness as a beautiful and fruitful relationship in our present times. This is the sweetness of a natural and conscious evolution. We begin to create more stability and sustainablity by a creative outlook that is resourceful with stronger foundations that are not just short term solutions, but longer and evolving solutions that embrace the needs of our smaller worlds, greater humanity, and earth with true wealth and prosperity. 

The Earth is speaking. Hmmmm? Yes. The Earth is speaking, and this could quite possibly be the best time. It’s her time. In Traditional Chinese Medicine and native cultures, earth is considered yin, feminine, and the great mother. The sky and heavens are considered yang, masculine, and the great father. The planet Earth is composed of yin (inner, deeper, feminine, receptive) and yang (outer, superficial, masculine, expressive) qualities, and yet her core and center is yin and feminine. When assessing in traditional chinese medicine for imbalance of health and energy within a human being, the yang expression of symptoms is a guide to the inner yin root cause. It is often this expression of symptoms that helps us wake up and ask questions to find the source of the inner problem or dis-ease, which has often been manifesting much longer than the outer expression reveals. The yang expression is often doing the talking, but the yin receptive root is often asking you to listen. 

What our world has seen much of in the advancement of innovative intelligence without the match of innate intelligence is the over abundance of masculine energy. In and of itself, masculine energy is a gift because it drives action. When masculine energy is out of balance, it creates over-ambition, stress, aggressiveness, toxins, excessiveness, buildup, tightness, and heat. Think of the energizer bunny on an addiction of caffeine. Think Type A personalities, heart disease, cancer, pollution, over-population, and cement where it was green. In our planet, it means we're hitting on the earth too much, our own and the planet. We move her, we uproot her, we poison her, we build on her, and we keep asking her for more without appreciation of her natural qualities, until suddenly they are no longer there for you to see, especially when you would like to see them. What you see is the expression of the yang symptoms of neglect and abuse signaling that we haven't listened to the inner yin and feminine messages. It is masculine speaking and masculine revealed. It is a mirror, which is showing that it is time for balance, receptivity, reflection, listening, cleansing, and re-vitalizing. It is imbalance that can be corrected if we start listening, tuning in, and letting the Earth speak her true and natural voice, instead of one veiled by toxicity. 

The truth is, this is beginning to happen already with the help of teachers and media enlightening us on ways of consciousness, organic, local farming, better nutrition, meditation, yoga, and better and natural health. Yet to truly latch the lasting root of inner wisdom, the key to this is to understand the true essence and balance of feminine and masculine energy which helps us continue to reveal and master our innate intelligence. In the real times of our world today filled with challenges and needs, our life practice is needing a specialty in the awakening and growth of feminine energy to ground, root, and relax the mind more. Many might think this is the call for the comeback of Feminism. Yet, often there was much masculine energy in the feminist movement, and this is not just a woman's movement but a wholeness movement. So, what this could be is a re-evolution of Feminism for the importance of understanding more about ourselves and our world. 

To this cause, a truer understanding and integration of feminine energy will help awaken the creative rootedsolutions for natural flow while decreasing the habits and consequences of destructive mindsets, impulsive behaviors, addictions, and reactive pain-need cycles. It is the feminine energy that truly helps us to tune into our innate center, wisdom, and natural alignment to reveal the deeper, most helpful, wise, and healthy answers. It is the quiet and receptive balancer revealing what is genuine. Masculine energy, however, helps us create the actions of commitment to these deeper answers to drive a balance of innate and innovative intelligence, thus conscious evolution and sustainability. First, we must listen, see, and strengthen our feminine energy so that what is core, genuine, and honest is revealed. This is essence. In this way, we can understand more clearly what we need to clean, remove, or let go of so that we plant seeds in a healthy pot of soil that we can harvest knowing that the gifts of our labor is giving us the most nutritious fruit and food for sustainability. 

As we make the conscious choice to tune into the inward feminine energy speaking from the earth center inside of us as well as earth that we live on, there's also a good chance that spirit and spiritualism will be renewed as well. Revitalization in its fullest essence, I'd like to say. Think energizer bunny dancing with jive and rhythm. Think wholeness, vitality, exuberant energy, passion, deep sense of worth and purpose, lightness, vital consciousness (shen), creativity, trust, inner wisdom, genuine love, true compassion, authentic playfulness, respectful collaboration, healthy communication, and fruitful productivity, choices, and harvest. Our Earth walk becomes both inner and outer, root with root, center with center, human with Earth. 

When we touch the earth, we know her better because we know ourselves better. Out of this symbiotic relationship, we learn true health, wisdom, and generational consciousness. Separateness becomes union through listening, honoring, respecting, and integration. Man, woman, child, earth meets earth, and deep values and worth blossom. Balance (homeostasis) becomes a more practical choice as a revealed vital expression. When we listen to the deeper messages inside and create actions from those choices and then see the fruitfulness of its expression, it's as if a piece (peace) of heaven is forming. You can look up, look around, and look in, and you can find its expression, whether it's feminine, masculine, or whole. Its also helpful to know that it's not just in one place, but when we give ourselves the time for the feminine source, all else becomes brighter, all else that is manifested is more genuine, all actions have a greater possibility. It is time to listen and let the Earth speak, because she will give the divine answers to the intelligence, flow, and vital call of our times.
