This class is an introduction to the eastern healing philosophies and practice in Traditional Chinese Medicine studying the energetic pathways known as "meridians" and learning how the flow or blockage of energetic flow, known as "ki" or "chi" can affect our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual balance. We'll look into the elemental cycles of Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood and even have some fun seeing how they describe our personalities! With a good foundation in the meridians and energywork, we'll then explore relaxing bodywork flows on the massage table and on the floor to learn how this modality can be applied to health conditions and for overall health and wellness. A great fun class to explore touch, energy, & eastern healing and wisdom that you can apply to your own life, profession, and with each other. Come & enjoy!

In this expanded class on the fundamentals of Five Element Theory in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), students will learn the benefits and practice of Anma massage, an ancient Oriental medicine bodywork practice (the foundation of Shiatsu) using special techniques on acupressure points (acupoints, tsubo points) to enable and enhance self-healing. This class will also build upon the philosophy and theories of health within Traditional Chinese Medicine, while developing further skills in the presence and practice of Acupressure. Students will learn how to develop specific protocols with acupoints and meridians (energy pathways) for working with specific pathologies as well as kyo (empty, deficient, yin) and jitsu (tight, excess, yang) conditions that can be used in massage practice and in personal health.
