Acupressure Research Study

on the Physical and Energetic Heart

in relationship to Cardiovascular Disease

~OPEN TO ALL~

conducted by Jennifer Coomes BA LMT RYT

Why Am I Doing this Study?

Simply put, heart disease runs through my entire immediate family to such a degree that I became highly motivated to understand the causes, the frustrations, the attitudes, and the obstacles to cure (environmental issues preventing cure that must be eliminated to move toward cure) but also understand the preventive therapies, actions, commitment, and lifestyle needed to reverse the path of heart disease for not only my family but with those I am chosen to help.   My path started out years ago with wanting to understand my own heart on many levels due to having struggled with depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress from childhood and at various periods of my life yet also realizing that I have been given the intelligence and divine right to overcome and help others do the same.  I wanted to understand the psychological factors (mental/emotional) that created dysfunctional families and relationships to create a future that held more proactiveness, resourcefulness, self-awareness, prevention, support, nourishment, and healing tools.  Along the way, I began studying more of the physical, spiritual, intuitive, nutritional, and energetic sides of creating health.  This finally brought me to medical school in 2008 and I am still working towards my doctorate degree in medicine.

This study seeks to specifically look at the physical and energetic sides of heart disease, the obstacles to cure which create and maintain heart disease, and the pathway to reversal and a new lifestyle with renewed heart health and healing.   Since I am not a doctor, I cannot diagnose and treat your health condition at this time, but I will do my best to educate you as much as I can with what I know and understand so that you can talk with me with trust and openness and come to your doctor or any necessary health practitioner with personal wisdom.   Thank you for this truly valued opportunity to work with you.

In February 2010, Jennifer was published within the Townsend Letter alternative medicine journal with a research article titled, "Using the Feminine to Heal the Aggressive Masculine:  Designing Acupuncture Protocols through Naturopathic Philosophy for the Treatment of Excess Yang Conditions."    This article was focused on discussing the theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine used to explain how the heart becomes imbalanced and using acupuncture to help treat conditions related to cardiovascular disease.  Now, I'd like to take this information one step further and gather responses to therapy in acupressure (like acupuncture without the needles) to learn the deeper effectiveness by application in people diagnosed or struggling with some form of cardiovascular disease (physical heart) or debilitating stress/emotional conditions affecting the energetic heart (grief/sadness, anger, fear/panic, depression, numbness, confusion, lack of will/desire, fatigue, excessive or distracted energy).  This study is not a "diagnosis or treatment" of any disease as done by a doctor, however, if further referral to health professionals are needed based on observations, these will be recommended to the client.

Some Preliminary Consistent Results of  The Acupressure Study of the Heart:
This is by no means a statement of medical advice but shared with
the intent of education for the observations made in this study.  Please seek medical advice as necessary for any diagnosed heart or related medical condition.

Lower heart rates:  this is especially helpful for those who have stress induced tachycardia (high heart rates)
Better sleep, more rested on waking
Pain reduction
Lowered blood pressure:  this is not a consistent result and will often be dependent on your specific case
Lowered stress levels
More emotional balance
More personal empowerment and life transformation

Organization of Acupressure Sessions for this Heart Study

All acupressure sessions are given on an outcall/outreach basis, ie. the therapist comes to your home or designated location.  Potential clients would participate in the length of study chosen with an interview lasting 15-60 minutes long along with an acupressure session lasting 30-60 minutes long (average total session is 90 minutes).  For the first visit, the client will fill out an acupressure intake questionnaire detailing medical history with specific questions related to physical, emotional, and mental health as well as stressors.  An interview will be conducted with the client to best determine the nature of acupressure protocols that are best suited for the clients specific health state and follow up interviews will be conducted each session to again determine which protocols are best suited for the session.   Stress ratings, vital signs, as well as mental/emotional/physical reports will be taken before and after each session along with general observations of the effects of the session.

NEW Developments in the Acupressure Study of the Heart

The Acupressure Research Study on the Heart is now offered with 3 different options with specific recommendations upon choosing each option to address more short-term needs, chronic conditions, lifestyle change, and to look at short and long-term benefits/effects of receiving acupressure therapy consistently to improve the health of the heart as well as general health.  Everyone is welcome to participate in this study.

5 Session/5 Week Study
This is a short-term acupressure study which can address minor mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical needs that are more acute in nature (more recent and less life altering) which can benefit positively from acupressure and help someone return to an empowering life of health.
Fee to Participate:  $300 ($60 per session)
Travel Fee:  $20 per visit

10 Session/10 Week Study
This study is well suited for those diagnosed with heart, emotional, and mental conditions who are looking for transformation in their health.  This study is also open to anyone needing to experience a deeper place of relaxation more consistently to create a lifestyle change toward health and stress balance.
Fee to Participate:  $500 ($50 per session)
Travel Fee:  $20 per visit

20 Session/20 Week Study

Fee to Participate:  $800 ($40 per session)
Travel Fee:  $20 per visit

What is Acupressure?

Acupressure is an energetic touch therapy where the tips of fingers are used to lightly touch specific acupressure points on the body over clothes while you lay relaxed on a massage table. It is designed to help naturally balance the energetic body which then can resolve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual symptoms that manifest from imbalance. It is non-invasive and is considered a very gentle and stress relieving therapy.  This therapy is appropriate for all ages, considered very safe, and can be used in conjunction with medications.
