Moving From Silence to Orchestra: Building Confidence and Liberation In Your Voice with Jennifer Coomes with Steve Borick on guitar Friday, August 29th 2008, 7-9pm 48 N. Robson Mesa, AZ 85201 480.844.2353
While working with techniques in breath, meditation, and voice, this empowering workshop will teach you how to use your breath and your core muscles to help you get in touch with the voice inside you. To chant means to sing, and it is one of the greatest gifts we have to create joy and liberation. This workshop will help bring even the shy voices to life so that you may recognize the beauty, radiance, strength, and confidence in your true nature as you use your voice in your life. We'll also work with sanskrit mantras, their meanings, and their understandings as they relate to unleashing the divine within you. Sanskrit is a universal language of the divine and it meets all, regardless of your religion, spiritual path, nationality, or heritage. It is designed to help us recognize our interconnectedness and individual true nature. Essentially, "chanting" or singing helps you recognize and realize who you really are in liberation and happiness. As the night gets us more open and liberated in our voice, we'll blend our voices in community and harmony to create an orchestra of sound that is touching, resonating, and healing to all who attend.
The acoustics in the ITB yoga studio are amazing, so come join Jennifer in a passionate and joyful night of singing, soul, and community that is welcome and encouraging to all...even if you've never sang a note in your life! Bring yourself, friends, family, partners, or anyone you think would benefit from this enlightening evening! If you have an instrument, feel free to bring it along for a great creative night! Come early and enjoy the great the menu and community at the ITB cafe!

Tai Chi Dance: A Community Moving with Jennifer Coomes Friday, Sept 19th 2008, 7-9pm
Tai Chi is an amazing artful form of meditative movement that is designed to help create and inspire awareness, presence, relaxation, and health through gentle and conscious movements of the hands, the body, and our inner living energy called "chi." It is a way to understand your dance through your body, your actions, your feelings, your thoughts, and your energy, and how that relationship is symbolic and connected to how you move in your life. In this powerful, fun, and transforming workshop, you'll learn how to connect fundamental movements of Tai Chi with breath and body awareness to help you with even simple activities of daily life that require the use of good body mechanics (or movement from your hara center) to creating a health-inspired meditation and movement practice that is both relaxing, releasing, creative, and liberating.
Out of our learning of the fundamentals, we'll then work together to use these basic movements to create "A Community Moving," a consciousness of flow where each person's movements are connected to each other in a feeding, giving, and receiving pattern. Through this process, you'll not only learn how your actions and energy affect yourself, but how they contribute to the people around you and a community as a whole. Wherever you are at, you'll recognize a deeper connection to yourself and each other more honestly and fully. Not only will this be a work of moving art which is amazing to see, (which is also often known as "performance art"), the energy and transformation that takes place is powerfully healing, shifting, and expansive. And let's not forget, playful and fun! This is a great way to get your juice flowing and experience your health and creativity in a way that is thriving, useful, and community building!
No experience necessary, all are welcome!!

Jennifer has been inspired by conscious movement practices since falling in love with dance over 16 years ago and through her own process of healing, she began a free-form of dancing meditation to release and explore held feelings, emotions, stress, and painful experiences. Out of this process began a new form of creative expression that she likes to currently use to help students realize that the body is a voice and a vehicle for art, connection, communication, liberation, and transformation. Her greatest gratitude goes to a teacher named Ozzie who first taught and encouraged her to look deeper into her movement and fears as she choreographed her first solo dance that she performed as part of a performance art class in a Philadelphia theatre in 1998.

Does God Speak To You?
One day I simply began listening. I'm not quite sure when it began or how it began, but somewhere along the way I began to listen deeper. Now you might find this interesting that I was born with a middle ear impairment and through my younger years in elementary school, I was constantly spending time with a speech therapist and going to an audiologist. I had trouble hearing the high pitch sounds in language and so because I couldn't hear them, I couldn't say them properly. So I would learn to pronounce s's and r's and how to say words with them. I had to slow down sentences and really focus on making the sound, really essentially learning how to communicate so I could be heard and understood. Every now and then, people still can still pick up the "lisp" or I will be talking softly and not notice, or I'll suddenly put words together or say something that won't make any sense and then need to correct myself (which is usually a source of light-hearted laughter, given what I think hear and the words I put together :) Often, I've also been blessed with understanding something before I could put words to it, so as I grew, part of my learning was to learn how to put words and language to my deeper understandings or even just what I truly wanted to say or was feeling. Through years of this, I explored listening and communication on many levels because I found that the truer I was able to be with myself, the more I could connect with people and let them be real too. In many ways, I feel that is what brought me into the massage and healing fields, because I could listen to the body too. So when I think about God speaking to me, I can't help but be grateful for the gift of listening that has been given to me to help me use my hands, my voice, and the power of choice for health and vitality. When I slow down to feel the real message, and feel the authenticity in my own presence, I feel that much more connected to share and use the wisdom that listening has shown me to help others become healthier and more in tune as well.

Tips to Embracing a Supportive Network Supporting Health, Vitality, & Prosperity:
Speak Passion, Live Passion, Be Peace. Awaken Say I Love You. Let the stories go. Be bold, be honest. Chuck the Ego Say the unsaid (because it's said anyway) There's a way through it Rest, Absorb, Integrate Walk Light Remember Snoopie See the mirror, See yourself. Touch, Embrace, Listen. It's okay. Do everything with love, even if you have to let love go Live and Break the confines Let the walls dissolve. In Grace, power emerges. Silence is Space Connection is oneness. Conversation is an opportunity to awaken. Intimacy is a courageous meeting of one soul opening of two souls seeing a oneness meeting Sit and Meet Eyes before saying a Word Be beautiful to someone, to you Say I love you again And hold like you are willing to stay awhile. Stay in the moment Have the conversation...In Person. Then sit, breathe, listen. Listen again. Talk only when you have listened. Be patient on the days you don't. Love yourself anyway. It's okay to cry. You are held on the days you fall. Falling is only a rest to see again. See again. Dance Awaken your voice. Let it Breathe Let voices work together Each whole, Each valued Embrace the trust in you Receive love Your life is worth it. Kindness is a choice. Ask questions, state less. But state concisely. Realize the personal is only the pain of the past coming to say hello allowing you to set it free Share a cup of tea. Honor your life and breath Realize that most differences are mostly needs. And needs are only fears. And fear is only forgetting that we are okay anyway. Isolation is only the confusion of reaching out or staying in but Aloneness is a happiness with you Trust that you are loved even if the world forgets how to show it We are here to remember Don't be afraid of intense people, they laugh too. Find the kid in you Live Innocence Bridge Life, Bring Light Laugh Love Live Be.
And laugh again Laughter is medicine to the heart.
